What was going on with the Internet in 1995

In 1995, Ebay and GeoCities were launched along with the search engine AltaVista. Also in 1995, Jeff Bezos was just starting off as a simple bookseller with his Amazon website.

By the end of 1995, the number of websites grew to 23,500 with SupraNet having helped develop a few of the websites including WovenHearts, one of the first assisted living facilities with a website and the only assisted living facility listed on AltaVista. Another groundbreaking SupraNet T-1 client was Woodland Communications (Gary Walker and Cindy Hoesly) who launched the Oscar Mayer Cyber Cinema in 1995 with SupraNet providing ISP, Technical Support and CGI Programming.

The Worldwide Web was exploding!

America Online (AOL) was also on the rise. A closed service that provided email, instant messaging and Chat rooms along with access to limited brokered content, AOL was well on its way to building an empire of subscribers. In 1995 they reached 1 million members by mailing millions of floppy disks to households all over the United States. The AOL service would give us the iconic sound bite, "You've Got Mail" that, in turn, would later inspire the title of the 1998 movie, "You've Got Mail" starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
