What was going on with the Internet in 2010

The 2010s saw the Internet become even more essential to everyday life with video streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, and social media that required more bandwith and speed. Huge upgrades in home broadband speed took place throughout the 2010s, thanks to the continued rollout of fiber connections and the introduction of 4G mobile Internet.

Pinterest and Instagram launched. Pinterest is now owned by co-founder, Ben Silbermann. Facebook bought Instagram two years later 2012 for $1 billion in cash and stock.

Also in 2010 the original Apple iPad was introduced.
